ABOUT ME
- HorseOfCourse
- This blog is mainly about my horse life. As a birthday present when I turned 6 yo I wished for, and got, a riding lesson. Have no idea why; none of my parents were into horses. But I was bitten by the bug. 43 years later I am still a horse person, and luckily my husband and daughter are too. Now we are owned by 2 horses and two cats. We live in a woodland area outside Oslo, Norway, where we at wintertime have to fight our way between moose and ski-nitwits. Welcome to my world!

You know here in Scandinavia, riding is a very female sport. If you look at the riding schools, 90%are girls. And I believe that many boys would like to try, but refrain because it is a "girl sport". And some come as adults instead...
Ha ha, I had this on my blog a couple months ago! I love it, reminds me of when I was a kid and would "canter" everywhere.
HOC, just wanted to let you know that my horse has now made the connection between the verbal praise and the treat so well that I don't have to treat as often, and he's very happy to be told "good boy". Not only are his walk/trot transitions becoming more consistant, yesterday we added nice trot/canter transitions.
Still very interesting...this was a very specific problem of working thru a resistant attitude at the beginning of our ride. His transitions have always been good in the second half of the ride, but we usually have to go thru that initial "I don't wanna".
So much nicer to have him tryng to please me and earn praise. Thanks!
