I have to share something I read on Claire's blog (thanks Claire!)
Sjef Janssen, the controversial trainer and husband to Anki van Grunsveen, has been sued in civil court regarding a horse sale, and found guilty:
"...because he [Janssen] had been unable to find a buyer at the price plaintiffs were asking, he would forgo his commission if plaintiffs accepted the $312,000 offer"
"Plaintiffs subsequently learned, without disclosure from defendant, that the buyer had actually paid defendant $480,000"

Oh-la-la Janssen.
Somehow this doesn't surprise me.

This is not a nice guy or an honest guy either. I don't really like him much at all and I hope he gets what's coming to him.
they're quite a pair. you hear about shady dealings like this all the time, but this couple seem to be up top their eyeballs in shady business...
No surprise to me either, anyone who can do what he does to horses is capable of anything.
hahaha, what goes around comes around! Good to have you back, missed your first post but hope we'll be hearing more!
Interesting way to forego his commission (what a jerk!). No matter how we try, it's people like this that make the headlines while the rest of the industry takes a black eye.
it was an interesting case report, wasn't it! but (just in case he's reading this!) it wasn't a "conviction" in the criminal sense - he was sued in civil court. the interesting thing we'd all like to know, is, did he pay?
oh, and i got the link from a friend, who'd got it from a facebook group...
Thanks Claire, I better correct that!
Incredible how dishonest the horse business can be. Glad his dirty dealings were discovered. I hope the plaintiff gets their money. That guy is scum.
