Just how stupid can you get???

------

Here we are at in between.
In between winter and spring.
This is what the riding arena looks like
*sigh*
Not much sensible work to be done there...

And this is what my car looked like when I got out to drive to work the other day.
Arrghhhh.

Last weekend, we went trail riding again, me and Fame.
It IS nice that spring is approaching, but ridewise it is a mess.
Can't work in the arenas, and on the trail the snow is getting what we call "rotten", it doesn't carry the weight of the horses at all times.
So we hump around, not nice at all.

Roads are better.

Coming down to the creek, Fame was thirsty.
So she decided that she wanted to drink - with her front legs down in the water, and her hind legs still on the thick ice edge at the brink.
And I was sitting bareback.
I guess you can get the picture.
A nice, fine slide straight down into the water...
....but I managed to hang on!

When my daughter was 5-6 yrs old, the Shetlands pony she was riding did the same thing.
Unfortunately she DID take the slide, straight into the water, and it was at this time of the year too.
She has always been very fond of taking a bath, but even to her it was a weee bit cold.
Poor thing!

I've seen that video before. It always amazes me how stipid people can get around animals...

As for the arena, jikes! Pål called me yesterday and wanted me to jump hercules, now I'm not so sure :/

Our arena is almost dried up at the moment, no ice, just a few "mudholes". It looks like its just abit of water, but once you step into it you realise you have made a mistake! haha.

We've just only now gotten out of the worst of it and able to ride again - our arena looked like yours not long ago!

How stupid was he???
We're into spring here, all the daffodils and tulips are starting to bloom, I love it.

That was pretty stupid!

Our arena looked like that until last week. I'm glad you didn't take the slide ride into the freezing water. Your poor daughter, that must have been a shocker.

we have a biiiiiiiig storm moving in that the forecasters are all excited about. if we get anything it will be more rain than snow (although there IS snow in the forecast!!!), and maybe flash floods. The wind is blowing a gale and I'm thankful I'm not out riding right now!
That video - OHMIGOD! I bet he won't ever do that again.

That guy deserved what he got.

Now...maybe in the summertime you will want to slide down Fame's nexck into the water. But looked like it would have been awfully cold this time of year.

It's such a relief to know it's not only the Western riders in America who do foolish (OK stupid) things. Of course I'm talking about the draft owners in the parade.
I'm also relieved to know your horses have the same sense of homor ours do!
"OK guys, watch while I execute the old 'I just wanted a drink' trick," Fame snickered.

Thanks for your comments all!

LOL Mugs, I can almost hear her! And you know the worst part was that I fevereshly tried to get her head up (which isn't easy when you are sitting bareback on a sloping horse back) and she was VEEERY thirsty. Very thirsty, sluuurp, slurrp.
Oh, they make me laugh.
