- This blog is mainly about my horse life. As a birthday present when I turned 6 yo I wished for, and got, a riding lesson. Have no idea why; none of my parents were into horses. But I was bitten by the bug. 43 years later I am still a horse person, and luckily my husband and daughter are too. Now we are owned by 2 horses and two cats. We live in a woodland area outside Oslo, Norway, where we at wintertime have to fight our way between moose and ski-nitwits. Welcome to my world!

Oh no! It's too soon. If you are getting ice this early, you must spend a large portion of your year scraping ice off your windshield. That's one of those jobs that makes me beg for summer.
Maybe you should take a trip to Hannover;) We have 22 degrees today, hi hi. But not for long I think...And it's not like I can enjoy it, since I have biochemistry classes all day long:/

It was actually an even thicker layer this morning, lol!
But it is not quite winter yet.
We have had some nice autumn days, with sun and temperatures around 17-18 centigrades, but with the clear weather it also gets cold during night time.
A bit too early for frost though, IMO.
We have cold rain and a little snow in the mountains. I'm sorry summer is leaving, but fall is my favorite time of the year. No flies, beautiful days, relief from my hot flashes! Who could ask for anything more!
Mugs - I agree with you, the first part of the autumn is together with spring the best part of the year to ride in. The days now are lovely, we have had clear and sunny weather.
It is getting rapidly darker though, and I know it will soon be impossible to ride out on trails after work.
The last part of the autumn is the worst part of the year to go riding for us; the ground will be frozen, it will be pitch dark without the snow, and unpleasant weather with mainly sleet and cold rain.
I don't look forward to it.
We can sit snug by the fire and write horse stories back and forth during the worst of the year....
Yeah, yeah, while both we and the horses get fat and lazy!!
No, I guess I just have to plod along in foul weather, while you have your lunch traning in a snug indoor arena, you lucky thing!
As you know, I love this time of year too. The one exception is the diminishing light. I find that extremely hard to deal with, especially during the work week. And I absolutely agree, it is the worst from late fall until the snow. We need the brightness!! And that's just me and walking my dog, I can't even imagine trying to ride outside like that!
We are still trying to do as much of the lesson outside as possible. We ride from 7-8pm and can still do the first 20 min in a field, then we head to an outdoor sand ring with lights. I think by next week we will have to accept the indoor fully. Not that the indoor is bad, but we all prefer to be outside!
